Training and work, two universes that have been considered parallel for too many years. For some time, the belief that they are two sides of the same coin has manifested itself with the multiplication of free courses, at the end of which it is easy to think that they can be hired by local companies.
Varied opportunities that make the eyes of those who had to sweat seven shirts to sign their first contract and those entrepreneurs who always had to train new recruits in the company. Today, however, it goes in a complicated way and too often the calls for participation in the courses do not have the following that one would expect, according to the quality and the opportunity that is available. And companies find themselves without properly trained staff to hire. It happens in tourism, where there is a shortage of chefs and waiters, in health care (for issues related to access to the academic world) and also in manufacturing.
They know something about it CisitaConfindustria Training Agency that has been operating since 1979, a date that once again confirms the pioneering work of the La Spezia economic system in the second half of the 20th century.
Cisita’s training proposals are multiplied and integrated with those offered by the Its Foundation, of which Cisita is a founding member and promoter of several didactic proposals. The areas of the courses are those typical of the local economy, with the idea of supporting our education system with local production systems, to support their development with adequate training proposals: these proposals/projects are built to give young people the necessary skills for the development of enterprises and with them contribute to a global growth of the “well-being” of the territory. They range from marketing and internationalization, to logistics, from mechatronics to more operational figures for boat and shipbuilding, areas that certainly cannot be considered without growth prospects. But so be it.
The courses offered on behalf of San Lorenzo Academy, a world leader in the nautical sector, have struggled to establish themselves, despite offering excellent employment opportunities, being one of the companies that stand out the most on the crest of the wave of shipbuilding. The call is open and, after a quiet start, today there are many requests for information and the belief is that many can be converted into registrations.
The problems with which the world of training and the world of work collide arise from various factors, including the different approaches of young people to employment and indeed to life. “The children are looking for a job that meets their needs. They almost never look for a job immediately after their studies part time, which allows you to have free time. Very often they do not have the necessary guidance or crucial support. There are also those who aim to maintain the citizenship income and those who are not in a hurry to find a job, because they already think that they will never retire…”. It is a rather dramatic picture , what they draw about the relationship between new generations and work Giorgia BuccioniPresident of Cisita, e Father RiccardoDirector of the institution.
It is better in the 3-year IeFP courses, which are aimed at young people from middle school and are based on the professions of the territorial economy: mechanics, computer science, woodworking for the boat, business services: there are many registrations and the Response from the boys and their families is very positive. In addition, there are many requests for insertion of other study courses, technical and professional.
“Those outside, in the school world, often feel lost, feel important in our classrooms, have confidence. We have a multi-functional team that closely follows the person and his needs by combining the theoretical-didactic part with that of laboratory and Internship experiences combined. We do a job of Team and quality for the benefit of students, but also from the companies, so that those who have completed the three years have no problems finding work; in this didactic logic, built on the characteristics of the users, we also have the psychologist who intervenes at the request of the student and/or his family to follow the evolutionary process and any need for reinforcement of the young students. A school that follows the student at 360°”, explain Bucchioni and Papa.
To show the success of the training work, which in most cases, after the three years for the professional qualification, sees the presence of a fourth double annuity (between school and work in society) leading to the diploma, there is the Percentage of employees at the end of the training, equal to 90 percent. Physiologically difficult to do better.
Another area in which Cisita operates successfully is that of the training of employees, which consists of about three thousand students a year, with the addition of a piece of employees who are relocated. In this context, a virtuous path is developed that starts from the needs of companies to create a training offer that meets the needs and aspirations of young people. Cisita can only be a school with the needs of the system intertwined.
However, the difficulties are not lacking and concern above all the annual postgraduate courses, a range in which different types of proposals flow.
“We struggle to find “suitable” young people, with solid knowledge bases on which to develop specific skills in the economic sectors that are becoming more and more important. Even if the races are done with Mark how Sanlorenzo, Leonardo and Isselnord (Fincantieri company), with guarantees of employment for 60 percent of the participants…”, confirms the Pope.
“There is a disconnect between the post-Covid timing, which requires increasingly rapid specialization and learning, and the timing of schooling: Young people have various uncertainties about what is required of them and what the labor market offers. For this – adds Giorgia Bucchioni – we thought it necessary connecting the world of work and children from the first year of high school, who accompany them together with the teachers and the companies themselves. As a result, they can reach the end of their schooling with a clearer idea of the situation and thus better orient themselves. However, the need for direct hiring by companies remains present and this is it vulnus in the correspondence of the time, which Bucchioni wants to fill as soon as possible.
“For this reason, we decided together with Confindustria to implement this system already from the first year of practice technical and professional institutions that have more connections with the marine, mechanical and technological sectors. Families often direct their children to high schools and universities, without considering the real attitudes and aspirations of the children and the context in which they live. I believe that this is an approach that needs to be changed as soon as possible. Now, with the reform of the ITS (Higher Technical Institutes), this looks a little easier, but it must still be pointed out that it is not series B training – specifies the president – but rather a path that is very different Offers specializations, often well paid and that leads to work in companies that are the flagship of Made in Italy in their sector.
Do not forget that we are at the beginning of the seven-year period of the European Social Fund and that we have launched a dialogue with the region to establish the ways that are linked to the school career, to introduce. Students to companies and do transversal pathways to skills and leadership (Ptco) that are truly effective.
The hope is that within five years, registrations for the courses, which we remember are always free and prepare for employment, will increase.
However, the path seems to be crooked. “In the technical and professional schools of the city, at the beginning of each school year – the Pope points out – there are very few first classes with a technical and professional address. Few students enroll in high school with the intention of getting a job immediately after We must create the conditions to widen the pool of potential students who enroll in professionals and technicians, these, they will then be the technical and “competent” backbone that our companies need. It’s not like it used to be…”.
And the change has not been positive, especially considering the international economic system where the skill bar is constantly being raised. The competition is no longer limited to the territory, but is globalized. Bucchioni again: “Our production system is called upon to always strive for the maximum, and we are here to give companies the best“.
