In Italy, the school receives children on the run, but they eventually integrate into the critical issues that suffer endemically. What are we talking about?
It is well known that when wars, famines or crises of any kind break out, it is the children who pay the consequences who are the first victims. To be fair, it should be noted that very often, Italy has proven that it is at the forefront of developing plans for support on the spot or on air bridges to facilitate the removal of the weakest and to welcome them into the facilities of our country.
In order of events, we have also seen it with the Ukraine emergency; about 17 thousand minors, actually, accompanied or not, have found hospitality among Italian families, by countrymen or in the Reception centers. However, we do not want to guarantee the safety and “salvation” of minors from the war theater; the intention is also to support them psychologically, first to continue for them School education.
So here the same kids and teens from Ukraine have a place Tables of our schools, from childhood to high school, since the end of February 2022. We can not ignore the fact that this insertion takes place in a context that has already been strongly tested by chronic critics: the Italian school system. With one Noteof March 4, 2022, op Ministry of Education (Miur) announces the distribution of an additional one million euro to fund the employment of cultural mediators and literacy courses.
The fund pays out the institutions 200 Euro for all students enrolled in the Education Information System. In addition, the Minister provides information about the site Learning materials and information about the Ukrainian school system; in the summer, refugee minors will be involved in summer school activities. In this respect, Minister Patrizio Bianchi foresees the arrival of new investments.
However, schools should already be ready to govern continuous and unpredictable flow of children and adolescents who for the most part do not speak the Italian language and are psychologically vulnerable. In reality, however, this is not the case; Ukrainian cultural mediators are scarce and a large part of the school emergency plan takes place in voluntary terms: such as the Italian courses of Provincial Centers for Adult Education (CPIA) and free online courses offered by Ca ‘Foscari University of Venice.

In the Italian school system, the multiculturalism it is an established fact: by 2020, there will be 877 thousand students with non-Italian nationality; they come from families that mostly belong to low socio-economic groups, if not in absolute poverty. Between the benches are approx 200 nationalitiesof which Romania, Albania, Morocco and China are the four countries.
The Integration policy they do not always find fertile soil, but nevertheless Italy is confirmed to divide: Registration at any time of the year for minors of compulsory age and personalized educational plans. Miur has supported university professors, school administrators and associations to run programs Peer education, improve intercultural content on various topics, multilingualism and cultures of origin.
The crux of the problem translates into the lack of u systematically, which will soon suffer from a lack of financial resources, in contrast to the higher education in Italian education for foreigners and migrants, demonstrated by many specialized teachers. For the latter it is necessary “A structural and periodic training to work in intercultural contexts, the professional figure and the employment contract need to be reviewed”: this is explained Lucia SorceDirector of IC Rita Borsellino of Palermo.
Even if it is not so bad, the shortcomings of the training system are also on the forefront Inequality, reflecting on foreigners: with the age of entry into the education system influencing the integration process; School segregation and the risk of creating ghetto schools. A useful direction today would be to separate the roads, i.e. the possibility of choosing the secondary road with less stiffness and at a later stage of the road: what in the UK means follow up.
