The molecular process of formation of the student movement

In the social life of men, there are long periods in which the discomfort sets in, determined by the fact that an uninterrupted series of distorted habits, unjust laws, irrational social behaviors of the people are perceived, naturalized, internalized, as if they a habit that individuals carry. it without realizing it. The narrow horizon in which people move has been sedimented over time by laws, underlined by the rumble and bass drum of the media, penetrated into universities and institutionalized in schools by the prevailing mechanism of the Bureaucracy, which has the power to make it natural, eternal, unchangeable, a specific way of functioning, which is instead the fruit of certain power relations between men and which, on the other hand, is not natural, that of history has been produced, and which can only be effectively understood in the history of men. and modified by the same individuals who have passively accepted it for decades.

If we want to carefully analyze a specific aspect of social life, and in our case we do it with the student movement, perhaps we should observe it through the eyes of the biologist who is aware that the life of the whole organism functions in the life of a cell.but that this total life is expressed in a specific, particular, individual condensed form. Observing the overall movement of the whole in the individual represents a complex task, as it requires an overall vision, in which specificities are contextualized that must be observed, recognized, identified as specific to this single organism, and then understood and understood within the framework. ginn. of the social organism, in which they assume all their density and their universal meaning.

I do not pretend to summarize in a short article a complex phenomenon, full of variables, and especially in an evolutionary phase, like that of Inconvenience of the young generations and its embryonic way of expressing itself Student movement up to date. We can certainly not predict its evolution – whether it will persist or recede over time, whether it will affect the rest of society or whether it will remain in its own realm – what I can do is read and interpret it as embryonic product of a malaise expressed by young people and this implicitly describes a malaise and suffering of the whole school world and, widening the horizon, of the whole Italian society.

How has the school life of children from the 90s changed to today? What has happened in the last years of the pandemic? How did the students experience this? What do parents expect from the upbringing of their children? What does society offer young people at the end of training?

These questions can only be answered the changes in the school are framed in the overall changes that have taken place throughout society: the affirmation of the ordoliberal ideology, consistent with the end of the Soviet bloc, naturalized the relations of exploitation and absolute freedom in the capital movements with respect to the regulatory role of the state in all spheres of social life. The relative compromise between capital and labor, which was achieved in part until the 1980s, was due to the dogma of free capital movement and the perception of the inability of the state to control these movements. Companies, especially large corporations, as well as large financial corporations, have, with the active consent of the entire political class, sought and passed laws that increasingly preclude work, aid and government subsidies in difficult phases, systematic tax cuts, under Punishment of capital flight from Italy and loss of jobs.

The result was an increase in youth unemployment, and thus a Schools are increasingly subordinated to the needs of immediate gain. The student unrest first manifested itself in December occupations – the self-organized group of students struggling with the difficult experience of organizing a space, removed from the rigidity of an increasingly bureaucratic school, which, not surprisingly, under the Pressure from the administrators and the DS severely punished her – then with the spontaneous and instinctive reaction to the death of an 18-year-old boy, Lorenzo, within an experience that was associated with school-work diversion. At the time of writing, another boy had died in a car accident as part of the PCTO projects in a van and a national event in many cities is scheduled for February 18. The student movement does not grow uniformly in all cities and is not widespread in cities in all schools; however, its growth is constantmanifests itself not only in autumn but also in late winter.

The learning class is not always able to comprehend its meaning because, although it largely shares the basic critique of the competence school – which is in fact a school that is completely subordinate to the immediate needs of the companies – it is in aIdeology of legality that is forced to carry from above abuses and illegalities (government, miur, administrations), to force its public function as a state representative against the formal illegal act of students during the occupation. The greater the conflict capacity of the workers, and thus of the teachers, the more this role is reduced, which the state apparatus – along with the schoolchildren – want to nurture among the teachers. At this point, a reflection could be opened as to the liberal ideology, despite the teachers’ union in this phase (think of the fight against Renzi’s law 107 or the deep unrest that everyone experienced in the catastrophic management in the pandemic phase ) then re-emerges in this somewhat disturbing and contradictory vision of legality, which sometimes has little to do with a deep sense of justice and social equality.

As mentioned earlier, we can not know the evolution that the student movement will have. Personally, when I look at an element of enormous general significance in the radical criticism of the law on alternating school workon the other hand, I do not agree with the request for the elimination of the written tests from the final exams, which in my opinion, although unaware, makes the process of simplifying the school paths so costly for a certain liberal Pedagogy; however, this demand seems understandable from a student point of view, especially in a chaotic phase of pandemic management, where much has been lost in terms of learning and knowledge. The most interesting element is that it is precisely from the movement of middle students that all that Distortions that bring a society completely impregnated with the logic of profit on a daily basis and which in the political management of the pandemic of a ruling class are increasingly unable to work out a potential way out of its endemic crisis..
