Mat DDS No. 2323 of 20/10/2021, Department of Education and Vocational Training Department of Education, University and the Right to Study, funded under the “Experimental Projects of Didactic-Scientific Collaboration with Universities or Organizations Research Publics”. a project to our Institute for the amount of € 25,000.00, which includes the Department of Chemical Sciences of the University of Catania and the Ramacca-Palagonia Higher Institute on the Web.
The project, which must be completed by the end of this school year, naturally arose from the fruitful forms of collaboration that our institute established between the local high schools and the departments of natural sciences, chemistry and earth sciences of the University for Studies. of Catania.
Through the project activities we mainly list:
- Develop in students creativity, critical and logical sense, as fundamental aspects of knowledge;
- Raise and maintain interest and motivation in scientific disciplines.
- Promotion of an experimental scientific methodology among students;
- Perform chemical experiments to reflect on the relationship between “knowing” and “knowing how to do”
- Prepare students for entrance tests to the science and technology faculties
The project activities consist of theoretical lessons and laboratory activities, carried out mainly in the facilities of the Department of Chemical Sciences of the University of Catania, ensure the co-presence of senior secondary and university teachers as well as laboratory technicians for the exchange of experience between the various Making educational levels fertile, which often acts in waterproof compartments, so that it generates difficulties for orienting students in the transition from high school to university.
An IT expert will be responsible for creating websites where the learning materials produced during the workshops are published.
All the materials for the students and the transportation costs are borne by the project, which appeals to a number of about 40 students, mostly from male and female students.
The privileged participation of the female students aims to help remove the prejudices that drive them to focus mainly on post-diploma courses of humanities.
Overall, the fact that students have witnessed the collaboration between the different education systems and that they can interact with teachers from the university world even before visiting, can be a virtual driving force to break down prejudices and prejudices and facilitate choices. perfectly oriented in respect of one’s attitudes, needs and hopes for success.
Not of secondary importance is the fact of always working with a supporter to produce scientific materials that are useful in the inclusion processes.
