Foggia, the “Foscolo-Gabelli” promoter of health and wellness with the project “Physical Snack”

Promoting the physical, mental and social well-being of students with ‘Physical Snack’, the project that started today in the network of schools, the ICS Pertini of Ortanova and the SS of 1 ° degree L. Murialdo of Foggia with the ‘IC Foscolo Gabelli of Foggia as leader of the network. The initiative, funded by the Ministry of Education – Department of Human, Financial and Instrumental Resources and in collaboration with the Department of Humanities, Letters, Cultural Heritage and Educational Sciences of the University of Foggia, allows students to promote school health and therefore to improve and / or protect the health and well-being of the whole school community by conducting moments of ‘active’ teaching staff during the lessons, to encourage the learning of proper lifestyle, the practice of motor activities to enlarge and expand.

Experts in Physical and Sports Activity Sciences (Kinesiologists) will guide students in online schools to carry out a series of structured activities, with specific interventions and learning methodologies ranging from traditional learning outcomes, through which the teacher will propose tasks to motorists. ‘Development of motor skills, learning of postural patterns and motor skills, varying teaching staff and student communication modalities, to integrate didactic moments with the use of technologies through which the teacher will propose motor tasks with technological tools (for example IWB, LED sensors, video projectors, etc.) and integrated content, pure “engine”, with elements related to nutrition education and basic curricular learning (game literacy), sometimes, finally, learning from the Ludic engine with structured activities not only the repertoire z a draw, but also on activities and content s specificities related to the fitness area, sports-oriented skills, traditional dance and popular games.

The project is under the scientific supervision of Dr Domenico Monacis, Research Fellow in the Scientific Disciplinary Sector M-EDF / 01 of the Department of Humanities, Letters, Cultural Heritage, Educational Sciences – University of Foggia – and Prof. Dario Colella, Professor of Scientific Disciplinary Sector M-EDF / 01 at the University of Salento.

“For some time now, we have been convinced,” adds teacher Professor Fulvia Ruggiero, “that the promotion of well-being and health in schools means improving and / or protecting the health and well-being of the entire school community, with implications. positively reverberating towards the school. whole community. The aim of the project is therefore not only to improve the academic performance of the children, but also to encourage the learning of proper lifestyles, which increase their well-being and quality of life. Recently, sedentary habits have characterized our children, which further influences the learning of motor skills and the pedagogical process, for this reason we in the school environment thought about the realization of the motor activities promoted in the curriculum, at the intervals during breaks, alternating and integrating frontal learning activities, “traditional theoretical”, with “active” learning interns ventions.

These intervention strategies actually represent an opportunity to extend and expand the practice of motor activities during the curriculum, alternating many sedentary moments with short-term physical activity, allowing to enrich and connect body motor experiences with contributions and general elements. in different school disciplines (eg Italian, Mathematics, Geometry, Geography, etc.), reorganize and reorganize the premises for didactic activities.
