Students and teachers of IIS “Sturzo” of Gela, under the direction of teacher Concetta Rita Cardamone, from February 13 to February 20, partners from six countries (Italy, Spain, Greece, Portugal, Sweden and Germany) went to Spain and precisely in Andalusia, to strengthen with different countries the exchange of experiences, good practices, paths to common priorities, didactic innovation. Learning mobility abroad is based on quality education, concentrating investment on knowledge, skills and competences.
The benefits of education will have a significant impact on individuals, institutions, organizations and society as a whole by helping to promote growth, equality, prosperity and social inclusion in Europe and beyond. The new mobility opportunities, for learning purposes for teachers, trainers, students and young people, aim to improve professional skills, encourage multilingualism, create new projects. Students discussed the themes of cultural diversity, tolerance and respect, set up an authentic, peaceful and lasting dialogue, with a view to an ever-changing, increasingly mobile, multicultural and digital society.
The students, guests at the school of La Puebla de Cazalla (a city 70 km from Seville), worked in teams with children of other nationalities to develop topics about customs and partner schools, tolerance and integration, to express themselves with cinema, with dance, with drawing and with literature. These “High Definition Digital Works” were produced by all the partner students from the countries concerned and enriched their knowledge by having a university professor participate in Andalusian history, Mediterranean culture and immigration.
We must seize every opportunity to get to know other cultures, to learn to appreciate them and to understand the importance and richness of interculturality, to ensure that cultural diversity is an engine of development, social cohesion and peace. The participation in this study tour has enriched our students and teachers, the knowledge and mastery of the English language and created a network of broader relationships, which always represents a stimulus for tomorrow.
