The municipality of Lusia is looking forward to inaugurating a new service for senior citizens, starting next Tuesday, May 3rd.gives new life to the premises of the former Cavazzana primary school.
“The aim – as Social Services Councilor Lorella Battistella puts it – is to create a community center to be supportive and counteract the effects of the pandemic that closed elderly people at home, impoverished social relationships and limited opportunities for aggregation. The administration wanted to give the social sector space and opportunities, after a careful discussion with the cooperative La Coccinella di Castelguglielmo, which always focused on the needs of the fragile people. At the same time, it is the will of the administration, a community building, in which many of the years of their first school, the former Ada Negri Primary School, are given new life.
The cooperative has the task of managing the premises and proposing the various activities that can quietly fill the hours of presence in the center. It will certainly be possible to read the newspapers, share and comment on the news, and even share moments of their experiences in everyday life without missing the midday coffee. Activities, games, art or painting workshops and much more that can be decided from week to week in agreement with the participants. To enable this proposal, the administration has an agreement with Italian Red Cross, which has given its availability to carry out the transport service for citizens living in the municipality of Lucia who do not have a car.
Mayor Luca Prando and Councilor Lorella Battistella agreed with the city council to bring together more issues to make this project feasible and to give Lusia’s seniors a chance for socialization, “which we hope will benefit and ‘Support of a good group of Lucians’.
The inauguration and opening are scheduled for Tuesday, May 3 at 9 p.m .; the center is then open on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 9 am to 11.30 am, at least during the experimental phase, which lasts from May to the end of July. “The goal – concludes Battistella – is that this structure becomes a reference center for the city and that it welcomes more and more people with more and more activities and services, becomes a real multi-purpose center, for the use of the municipality.” For information and subscriptions, please contact the commune of Lusia on 0425 607026 or send an e-mail to firstname.lastname@example.org or email@example.com.
