“Despite the approximately 200 billion allocated by the European Union for the Italian PNRR and the serious criticisms leveled at by the pandemic, the government, the MIUR and the Regional and Provincial School Office do not seem to The needs of the school community are clear: the average of 49 classes in the province of Lucca with respect to the demand of the schools and the unacceptable condition of the school infrastructures, if one considers the condition of the classes (in some cases whole schools) always kept in containers.

The complaints of the last days of the teachers of Liceo Paladini and the Committee of Parents and Teachers, born in the “Chelini” Secondary School of San Vito for the possible cut of a class, are only the last cases which in the Foreground came. of news after a long series of complaints and protests in front of schools of all levels by parents, students and school staff.

In some institutions where the classes requested by the managers were not authorized, we will also have classes of 29/30 students and classes of over 20 with 2 or 3 students with severe disabilities, in violation of the current Legislation (Presidential Decree 81 of 2009), also in matters of health and safety.

In particular with regard to the high school, there are greater inconveniences in the technical and vocational institutions, which are characterized by a greater dropout rate, and which therefore require special attention to the problem of class overlap.

Furthermore, we must not forget the constant delays in work at Paladini-Civitali and Carrara, which have been teaching in containers or inadequate classrooms for the last three years, and the recent movement on containers by Liceo Vallisneri. Places absolutely not enough and inadequate on the Polo Fermi-Giorgi, which, after the change of Giorgi’s seat last year with many critical issues, risks the removal of the container from the Fermi place with further movements from classes to others already saturated. We consider this situation to be unacceptable, not only for pupils but also for school staff and for the protection of the right to education. All this in a historic moment in which the European Union is adopting an expansionary economic policy by injecting a unique amount of public money into the economy. It is clear that the mantra “there are no funds” for school, health and services no longer holds: what is missing is the political will to focus them on these sectors.

It is absurd to continue to apply the training criteria of classes and staff (teachers / ATA), which provided for the Gelmini reform, the sole purpose of which was to reduce 8 billion euros for schools in the implementation of the austerity policy. As long as these criteria are in force, it is only a matter of deciding how to distribute the reductions so painfully: we therefore refuse to wage war under the arm, in order to relieve other schools of the inconveniences we do not want. in our. Not only that, but the demographic decline is being used to reduce classes and staff and not to reduce the number of students per class. Finally, it is really absurd to separate the problem of class formation from the staff of the teachers in Ata or from those of the rooms. How would you do more classes without the teaching staff in Ata? How do you do more classes without the right places?

This is in contrast to the PNRR, which allocates 32 billion euros for schools and research, but which is not used to reduce the number of students per class and to expand the staff.

All of the above requires coordination:
